Method 2: Use a suitable keyboard and mouse

If your TV has the right connections for a keyboard and mouse, you can use these two devices to control your TV. The most common connection types of mouse and keyboard are USB and 3.5mm jack. Most TVs have this type of connection so you should have no trouble pairing and using them.

Method 3: Use another remote: HDMI-CEC enabled remote

When you buy Fire TV Stick, you should set this feature immediately. CEC stands for Consumer Electronics Control. That is, if enabled, it allows the TV’s remote to control everything connected to that TV via the HDMI port, which also means your TV’s remote will work with the Firestick.

To have “one remote for multiple devices”, first you need to look for the name of the function, TV companies call this function differently. Here are some of them:

  • LG – SimpLink
  • Hitachi – HDMI-CEC
  • Magnavox – Fun-Link
  • Sony – Bravia Sync
  • Philips – EasyLink

Method 4: Use another remote as other Firesitck’s remote

If you have another Firestick remote it will probably work with your device too. So if possible, borrow a remote from a friend or neighbor to use it temporarily. If the remote doesn’t work, you need to sync it with your device before you can use it.

First, let’s start by pressing and holding 3 buttons: Home, Back and Left at the same time for 10 seconds or more. Then restart the Firestick device (by turning off the power and restart). After the two devices are rebooted they will automatically connect, and you can use this controller on your Firestick to reset it.
